Daria Miyeko Marinelli is a Japanese-Italian playwright. Her plays include 105, We Are Samurai, Untameable, A Departure, Excipio, and 893 | Ya-ku-za, and more.
In New York City, her work has been developed and performed at Ensemble Theatre Company, The Flea, Jimmy’s No 43, Access Theatre, WOW Café Theatre, Standard Toy Kraft, and The 133rd Street Art Center. Regionally, she has been produced at Boston Center for the Arts, The VORTEX (ATX), Venus Theatre (DC), The Arts Center (Carborro, NC), Production Workshop (PVD), and Rites and Reason Theatre (PVD), and has developed work with The Barn Arts Collective. Internationally, her work has been developed at Espacio Arévalo in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Her accolades include being a recipient of The Weston Award in Playwriting, an Arnold Fellow, and a Semi-Finalist for the Lila Acheson Wallace Fellowship. Ms. Marinelli has been published in various literary magazines including The Dionysian, Bare Fiction, Fourth Wall Review, The Round and Clerestory.
Upcoming Opportunities include being a Writer-in-Residence at The New Harmony Project, an Invited Playwright for the National New Play Network's MFA Playwrights Workshop at The Kennedy Center, a Recipient for a Creative Residency at SPACE on Ryder Farm, and a showcased writer at the Consortium of Asian American Theaters & Artists.
Ms. Marinelli was born and raised in Hartsdale, New York. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Playwriting as a Michener Fellow at The University of Texas at Austin, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Magnum Cum Laude, and with Honors from Brown University.
